On Migdal Ohr's golden anniversary, we are coming together to honor Rabbi Grossman by writing a Sefer Torah! The Torah will be used by the programs of Migdal Ohr and by surrounding communities that need to borrow a Sefer Torah for Shabbatot, Chagim, and various celebrations.

This is an incredible opportunity for you to take part in the writing of the Sefer Torah and to dedicate part of it in honor or memory of someone special.

Rabbi Levinger, our sofer (scribe) is an alumnus of our programs who became a rabbi, sofer, and communal leader due to the encouragement and support he received growing up at Migdal Ohr. The rabbi has a very moving story of how he went from being a young boy with a challenging background to a leader in his community and a father of ten children. Read more here.

Before Shavuot, Rabbi Levinger was on tour in the United States and visited two schools in Bergen Country - Yeshivat Noam and Ohr Yisrael - to tell his story and teach students about the writing of the Torah scroll. He was able to give 150 students an in-depth look into the Sefer and talk to them about the mitzvah of rosh chodesh on Rosh Chodesh Sivan.

Rabbi Levinger also attended a beautiful evening at the home of Elizabeth and Rob Kurtz in the Five Towns where families had the opportunity to participate in writing parts of the Torah as it was being written. He then spent an evening with board member Sharon Haberman and her family.

We hope that you will join us and help to honor Rabbi Grossman for his life of dedication to Israel’s orphaned and vulnerable children. This is your opportunity to claim an eternal portion in this very special Sefer Torah and to make a difference in the lives of children and families in Israel.
