We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of concern, love, and ACTION from our incredible Migdal Ohr community, local schools and businesses, synagogues, and board members. All of the love for the children and families of Migdal Ohr and all of Israel has turned into a wave of good deeds, round-the-clock volunteering, and giving. Here are just some of the initiatives that are underway!

Call Center for Magen Israel at the AFMO Office

In just a few days, our amazing Board member Tzvi Solomon mobilized dozens of volunteers to come into the office and make phone calls fundraising for our Magen Israel humanitarian relief efforts to help tens of thousands of civilians from the Gaza border, soldiers, children, wounded individuals and their families.

Jerusalem Pizza generously donated food and the volunteers passionately shared our efforts for their brothers and sisters in Israel!

Cedar Market Matching All Customer Donations

Our incredible friends at Cedar Market are partnering with Migdal Ohr to match all of their customers’ donations to Magen Israel. They have exceeded their $50K goal in an incredible effort to mobilize their customers and community. Cedar Market also donated food to the He’Atid Shuk in support of the initiative.

The owners wrote: “With the recent horror that has struck Israel, and the effect on so many families who've suffered loss and displacement, Cedar Market knew that it needed to take action to best support our brothers and sisters whose lives have been torn apart and will need to rebuild from scratch. As a community store, Cedar Market felt the perfect partnership would be with Migdal Ohr, who has created a new initiative to be a beacon of light and provide for these families in need; and to help ensure a bright future for all affected by this unimaginable tragedy.” This is their campaign page: https://donorbox.org/cedarmarketisrael

Clothing and Toy Drive for Displaced Families

Board Member Sharon Haberman organized a clothing, toy and supplies drive in the Tri-State area that brought in HUNDREDS of duffels that have have filled a 40 foot container now on the way to Israel! The are being sent via a cargo fleet to the victims of the massacres in the south and their families that are being sheltered by Magen Israel in hotels and homes around the country. When they arrive in Israel, a group of volunteers from Modi'in will be helping to pickup and distribute them to the families.

Daily Giving Donated $50,000 from towards Emergency Relief for Families

Huge thanks to our friends at Daily Giving and thousands of Daily Givers who mobilized an Israel Emergency Fund to support the nonstop efforts of Migdal Ohr on the ground.

The $50K that you raised is already at work supporting bereaved and traumatized communities from the Gaza border, families of 2,500 wounded victims, and our brave reservists and medical personnel working around the clock.

He’Atid Shuk Pop-Up Shop Pre-Shabbat

New Jersey based Yeshivat He’Atid’s Shuk Shop rallied community members to bake, prepare and bring salads, dips, soups, desserts, and more for people to buy before Shabbat. The inspiring event packed our host’s home and the community donated 100% of the proceeds to Magen Israel.

We are grateful to our friend Giora and Hummus Elite, 8th Day Caterers, Cedar Market, and Yeshivat He’Atid and among many other stores, food establishments, local bakers, and cooks who contributed to the event. The Shuk raised $10,500 for Magen Israel!

The Velvet Box

The Velvet Box jewelry store is donating 15% of their proceeds to support the Magen Israel initiatives across Israel. Thank you so much for your support and for standing with our brothers and sisters in Israel during this very trying time. Am Yisrael Chai!

Ben Porat Yosef Makolet

The Ben Porat Yosef Yeshiva partnered with Migdal Ohr to donate all of the proceeds of snacks and baked goods, drinks and more from their BYP Makolet to the humanitarian relief efforts of Magen Israel.

Unity Challah Bake and Evening of inspiration on the Upper West Side

On October 26th, there was an uplifting NYC unity event for women from diverse backgrounds from different synagogues coming together in prayer and to learn about the spirituality of challah.

The event was dedicated to supporting Magen Israel and its efforts to assist displaced families. Rebbetzin Slovie Jungreis-Wolff uplifted and strengthened the women with her message that, “We must stand strong and take pride in our Jewish values. We are a nation here today on the ashes of the Holocaust. We have become a force for good in this world in the face of evil and will continue to forge on with resolve.”

The evening included Tehillim recited by female community leaders and a prayer for our hostages, wounded, IDF soldiers, and security forces led by American Friends of Migdal Ohr's Executive Director, Atara Solow.

Little Champions Event

Little Champions is a premier event for young professionals held annually to benefit Jewish non-profits that work with children. This year, Migdal Ohr was chosen to be the charity and when the war broke out, the effort refocused on raising money for Magen Israel benefitting the traumatized families from the Gaza border and and all of the activities Midgal Ohr is operating to help the citizens of Israel. The event raised an incredible $100k from 600 young professionals and was a huge success!

Special thank you to our Lead Ohr Young Professionals Committee for building up Migdal Ohr and to Jonny Hanus and Danielle Stiefel for giving us this blessing of meeting and working with the amazing Little Champions Foundation - especially Andrew Aryeh who lead the vision for the event with the help of Desiree!

The generosity and unity of Am Yisrael are overwhelming and we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
