[War Update] Atara Solow on the Response to Operation Rising Lion
National News

Dear Friends,

As Israel finds itself at war with Iran, I want to reach out with an important update from the ground.

Your love is deeply felt by the children and staff. You are more than a donor or friend—you are part of our family.

Today, that family is rising with resilience to care for our children and those who have nowhere else to turn during the war.

Our Primary Responsibility - Our Children

Thank G-d, all the children in our care are safe. Amid sleepless nights and repeated sirens, they are given the structure, love, and security they need to maintain calm.

The Campus is Open - Our campuses remain operational in accordance with the highest safety standards of the Israeli government and Home Front Command. For many children, Migdal Ohr is the only home they know—and we are here for them, 24/7.

Children are Safe in Upgraded Safe Rooms - Volunteers from the US travelled to Israel and refurbished our safe rooms after Oct 7th so that now, every child can learn and sleep in a secure shelter during nights filled with continuous sirens and rocket fire.

Routine through Remote Learning - Students who commute to schools and programs at Migdal Ohr are now on remote learning. Routine is essential to helping children regulate themselves and our teachers, social workers, and staff are focused on maintaining calm. During Zoom meetings, they are also helping students process their feelings, reaching out individually to ensure that no child feels forgotten or alone.

In times of war and challenge, Migdal Ohr serves as a beacon of light.

Magen Israel Humanitarian Relief

These are several of Migdal Ohr’s many efforts supporting thousands of vulnerable families who have children with special needs, widows, orphans, IDF reservist families, impoverished families, and the elderly.

Operating a Day Center for Children with Special Needs

Educational and therapeutic programs have shut down, leaving hundreds of children and parents without a framework. We’ve opened a fully accessible, fortified day center where 250 children are receiving enrichment and three nutritious meals a day.

Feeding Israel’s Most Vulnerable Families

With school closures, our kitchens have been repurposed to prepare and deliver thousands of hot meals to single-parent families, orphans and widows, the elderly, and military families.

Reinforcing the Nation of Israel with Faith and Hope As always, Rabbi Grossman continues to serve as a spiritual anchor for the nation, speaking publicly on the news and privately with hundreds of families, schools, and community leaders to give clarity and faith.

Thanks to your ongoing support, our children are safe, and we can extend that safety, care, and love to vulnerable families and individuals across Israel.

Please consider sponsoring Migdal Ohr’s relief efforts. For vulnerable families and children who have no savings or safety net, you are a lifeline.

This is who Migdal Ohr is. This is who we are. In moments of crisis, we don’t retreat—we rise.

Together, there is nothing that we cannot overcome.

Thank you, as always, for your incredible concern and love,

Atara Solow

Executive Director, American Friends of Migdal Ohr

P.S. Below are some snapshots we received from Migdal Ohr in action. Even as the country quiets down, we go into overdrive! Your support for these amazing initiatives is much appreciated and needed during these critical days.
