Historically, Israel's generals have taken great pride in going out to battle before their soldiers and shouting, "Acharai!" After me!
That is our fearless general, Rabbi Grossman. Who is out in front of thousands of troops, visiting hundreds of bases, hospitals, and war torn communities. He has visited hundreds of IDF bases and the Israeli Air Force to bolster the soldiers on the front lines and to bless them to be successful in their missions.
He is telling each soldier, "The emissaries of a mitzvah are not harmed" and distributing a coin to every soldier, which they are to give to tzedakah upon their safe return from the war.
He is assuring them that the Creator of the World will watch over them until they can fulfill the mitzvah.
The Rabbi remembers how during the Second Lebanon War, he distributed coins to 700 paratroopers, and all of them returned home!
May these brave men and women be successful in their mission to eradicate evil and come home in one peace to give their tzedakah (charity) and help the nation rebuild.
Now is the time to show G-d that we are one united people!
