The entire Migdal Ohr family mourns the heartbreaking loss of one of our own. Sgt. Major Meir Shimon Amar z”l, a beloved alumnus of our Metivta School, fell in battle alongside four other courageous soldiers:
- Sgt. Moshe Nissim Farash z”l (20) of Jerusalem
- Staff Sgt. Res. Binyamin Assouline z”l (28) of Haifa
- Sgt. Noam Aharon Masgedian z”l (20) of Jerusalem
- Sgt. Moshe Shmuel Noll z”l (21) of Beit Shemesh
Meir was a true reflection of the Migdal Ohr spirit. Resilient, kind, and devoted to Am Yisrael. His loss is deeply felt across our Migdal Ohr family, his teachers, peers, and all who were privileged to know him.
Rabbi Grossman made a personal visit to the bereaved parents during the week of shiva.
With warm words, and a heart full of compassion, the Rabbi embraced the grieving parents. Through tears, they told him that Meir had insisted on being at the front lines — driven by a deep sense of mission and the inner strength he received from Migdal Ohr.
“That’s how Rabbi Grossman taught us,” Meir would often say. “To give. To believe. To fight for what is sacred.”
The embrace between the Rav and the father say everything — the trust, the mutual respect, and, of course, the deep love.
They are two parents grieving a child who made the ultimate sacrifice living out the values he learned from school and from home.
May the Amar family find comfort among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and may Meir’s memory, and the memories of all these brave soldiers, always be a blessing and a source of light in our world.
We send our deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and pray for strength, comfort, and peace during this painful time. May we be worthy of their sacrifice.
