The municipality of Beit Shemesh recently featured works by young artists in City Hall including a showcase by Simcha, a talented young woman living at Migdal Ohr's Youth Village for girls, Afikei Ohr.
Simcha is in the 11th grade and has spent countless hours in the art studio painting studying visual arts under the guidance of her teachers and mentors. She came to Migdal Ohr, like most of the girls, after not being able to find her place in the ultra-orthodox community. One of her teachers said, "Simcha needed an outlet for her creativity and a way to show the world what was inside of her heart."
Addressing everyone in the audience, including the mayor of Beit Shemesh, Dr. Aliza Bloch, Simcha thanked Rabbi Grossman for all that he and his dedicated staff have done for her and all of the students at Migdal Ohr.
In her address to the crowd Simcha said, "In addition to being my school, Migdal Ohr is my home and the staff is my family. She teared up as she continued, "I am so fortunate that they appreciate me for who I am and are supportive of my talents. I dream of being an artist and now believe that it's possible."
