Couples Raising Twelve Foster Children Receive Support and Encouragement from Professionals Before the New School Year
Program Updates
July 29, 2025

In preparation for the coming year, Migdal Ohr’s Mishpachton foster parents participated in a professional development session led by MeLi, an organization dedicated to supporting children and youth removed from their homes. The training equipped the couples with practical strategies and tools to address the complex emotional, educational, and social needs of the children in their care.

The Mishpachton program places children in small, family-style units where they receive consistent support from married couples. Each couple raises their own children alongside up to 12 foster children, providing stability, guidance, and a home environment that many of these children have never known. Daily life in a Mishpachton family includes shared meals, homework support, medical appointments, therapy sessions, and family activities—all designed to meet the children’s physical, emotional, and developmental needs.

Rabbi and Rebbetzin Grossman joined the professional development gathering to encourage the foster parents and share insights from their decades of experience caring for thousands of orphaned and neglected children. Their guidance reinforces the core mission of Mishpachton: to give each child a safe, structured, and loving environment where they can thrive.

Through these programs, Migdal Ohr ensures that children who have faced neglect, loss, or trauma are not only cared for but are also given the tools, support, and stability needed to build successful futures.
