The Taste of Light Culinary Evening in Englewood this summer was an unforgettable night that was as much about connection, heart, and impact as it was about the company and extraordinary cuisine.

The evening was graciously hosted in the home of our dear friends Anna and Daniel Klein, and brought to life by a passionate planning committee which included Livia and Elias Marcovici, Lauren and Naftali Schuss, and Mor and Alphonse Soued.

Guests were treated to an exquisite tasting menu crafted by Chef Sruli Subar and his team at Subar & Co., complemented by perfectly paired wines from M & M Wines. But more than the elegance or the flavors, the night radiated a sense of purpose: it was about celebrating the children of Migdal Ohr and the families and supporters who make their futures possible.

After two years of war and trauma, the evening celebrated the power of family, generosity and our unshakeable connection to the people of Israel, and its most vulnerable children and families, in particular. Guests could feel the impact of their support in every story, every smile, every life touched by Migdal Ohr.

The children know that across continents, people care deeply about them—they have family they never even knew existed, and that knowledge changes everything.

An especially touching illustration of this was the connection between our hosts, the Kleins, and their relatives in Israel, the Wiener-Rosenfeld family from Kfar Aza, whose loved ones were murdered in the massacres on Oct 7th.

Like family, Migdal Ohr stepped in to help them and thousands of other families in the wake of the crisis, and we have remained deeply connected ever since. Ofer Wiener, the patriarch of the family, sent a very moving video that was shown at the event, thanking his cousins and everyone in the room for their heartfelt and unconditional support as his family has navigated grief and trauma that they could have never imagined.

Our Executive Director, Atara Solow, shared a powerful message that captured the heart of Migdal Ohr’s mission:

“I’m here not only to represent an organization — I’m here to bring you into a family. A family that spans oceans and backgrounds, bonded by one singular truth: every child—no matter their story—deserves a future.

When Israel is in crisis—when families are broken, children traumatized, soldiers wounded—Migdal Ohr shows up. Not with headlines, but with heart.

Because we don’t offer help and walk away. We show up. We stay. We hold on—and we never let go.

The children of Migdal Ohr feel your heart, your care, your presence. They know they are not alone—they have family. And that family—you—gives them hope, safety, and the tools to dream bigger than they ever imagined.”

Taste of Light Englewood was an opportunity for people to connect in meaningful ways to real children growing up in Israel and to think about how they could make Migdal Ohr a part of their lives, sharing the mission when they returned home with their children, parents, and friends.

It was a night that sparked generosity and connections that will continue to transform fear into joy, scarcity into abundance, and trauma into hope.

Thank you to everyone who made it such a spectacular success!
