In just 72 hours, our “Share Your OHR” crowdfunding campaign raised over $2 million for Israel’s orphaned and at-risk children growing up at Migdal Ohr. This effort brought together 845 donors and 30 volunteer teams, all committed to ensuring that 10,000 children in Migdal Ohr’s care continue to receive the support they need in the coming year. The effort was critical to closing the previous year’s budget and funding essentials for children without anyone to care for them.

At a time when Israel is still navigating the emotional and economic strain of ongoing war, this campaign was a clear statement. The Jewish community continues to show up for Israel’s vulnerable populations following through on their commitment and love for their brothers and sisters in Israel.

Families, lay leaders, teens, and students all played a role in the success of the campaign. Each ambassador team activated its own network, sharing Migdal Ohr’s story and reminding donors that these are not abstract causes. These are children with names, challenges, and futures that depend on us consistently, the way that children count on their parents.

One especially meaningful element of the campaign was the involvement of high school students. At the Torah Academy of Bergen County, dozens of students volunteered at a buzzing call center. Guided by faculty and alumni, they spent hours reaching out to donors and advocating for Israel’s children.

Among them was Sammy Haberman, who has been connected to Migdal Ohr for many years. Inspired by his own bar mitzvah fundraising experience, he rallied his varsity basketball teammates to join the effort. TABC alumnus and AFMO board member Tzvi Solomon spoke with students about discovering Migdal Ohr during his own high school years and how early involvement can grow into a lifelong mission.

Yeshivat He’Atid also joined the campaign. A group of eighth-grade girls volunteered at the call center, showing maturity and commitment as they prepare to enter high school. Many had already participated in a toy drive for displaced children earlier in the war. This campaign was another step in their journey of responsibility and chesed.

Together, these teens made the case for their peers in Israel with conviction and care.

Thank you to TABC's Head of School, Rabbi Josh Kahn, Executive Director, Judah Rosenbaum, and Director of College Guidance, Keren Weinberger, who worked closely with us to set up the call center and make the campaign such a huge success!

This campaign proved what is possible when a community acts together. Across generations, across cities, and across oceans we continue to show up for Israel’s children.
