This week, Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman and the dedicated staff of Migdal Ohr had the privilege of welcoming a government delegation focused on supporting at-risk youth within Israel’s school system. The visit took place at our Afikei Ohr Youth Village, where 100 young women—many of whom have endured years of trauma, addiction, and rejection—are now reclaiming their lives.
The visit offered an in-depth look at the transformative model at the heart of Afikei Ohr: a unique blend of therapy, education, entrepreneurship, and opportunity that empowers each woman to restore her dignity, discover her strengths, and step into a future filled with hope. These women are nothing short of remarkable—and the holistic care they receive is helping them turn pain into purpose.
Since October 7th, the mental health crisis among Israeli teens has only deepened, particularly for vulnerable and at-risk girls. The trauma of war has added layers of fear and uncertainty to already fragile lives. In this critical moment, Afikei Ohr shines as a national model of resilience and renewal—and we are proud that the government is exploring ways to replicate and expand its impact across the country.
At American Friends of Migdal Ohr, we believe that every young person deserves a chance to heal and to thrive. We are grateful for the recognition of this life-saving work, and even more grateful for the opportunity to be part of building Israel’s future—one life, one heart, one strong young woman at a time.
Together, we are creating hope and building futures for Israel’s most precious resource: her youth.
