Migdal Ohr admits children six weeks and older. Our early childhood program, including nurseries, day care centers, and kindergartens, provides a stimulating and nurturing environment. Nurseries, staffed by counselors, trained care-givers, and social workers, are open late into the day; a low child-to-adult ratio maximizes the individualized attention given to each child. Children participate in a variety of tailored, age-appropriate activities, from reading and painting to outdoor activity and play time, and learn the joy of celebrating Jewish holidays.
Migdal Ohr accepts orphaned and impoverished infants and toddlers, starting at six weeks old, and three- to five-year old children from dysfunctional families. These children enjoy round-the-clock love, care, and pampering. A team of trained nursery mothers and counselors provide a happy, safe place for small children who need—and deserve—every kind of nurturing.
Migdal Ohr Day Care and Kindergarten Centers provide tender loving care to children between the ages of two months to five years. Located throughout Migdal Ha'Emek, our Centers offer mothers the opportunity to work and better provide for their families. Our trained teachers, sociologists, social workers, psychologists, and nutritionists tend to the children's physical and emotional needs, provide supervised recreation and guidance, and develop their intellect and creativity. By offering this vital free service to impoverished families, we ensure a healthy start for both children and their families.
Foster villages are part of the Migdal Ohr complex. Here, abused, neglected, and orphaned young immigrants, not yet ready for dormitory life, are placed in private residence with specially trained families who "adopt" them. Surrounded by love, security, and family life, these children attend Migdal Ohr schools, and receive close personal attention from a special team of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and tutors.
This program is especially designed for neglected orphans who have experienced horrific abuse in their formative years. Whether the children come from orphanages in Yemen, Ethiopia, or the former Soviet Union, here at Migdal Ohr they are given exceptional attention and care to heal their wounds. Where possible, they are placed with trained foster families within the Migdal Ohr Foster Family Village, and all attend Migdal Ohr schools to pursue formal education. Private tutoring helps bring the children up to appropriate educational levels, and intensive psychological counseling helps them cope with experiences of trauma and abuse. The children's progress has been stellar: many have been successfully mainstreamed into regular schools.
